Greetings From Cleveland!

I'm so glad to be home even though it's raining today! I went downtown last night to a talk at the Ohio Theatre given by David Pogue, a New York Times tech columnist who talked about everything from cell phones, to Twitter and the cool things that are coming down the line in technology today. I really recommend reading his column, and if you get the chance to see him give a talk, without a doubt, go! Here's a sample of what he talked about last night:

The second round of the Road To The Rock Hall Semifinals are up and ready to be voted on!

Look for an announcement within the next two weeks about when we'll be making our trip here to Cleveland for our live broadcast at the Rock Hall. As always, tell your friends to vote and make their voices heard-it's coming down to the final bands and they all need your votes!

Hello there rockers!

The first round of the "Road To The Rock Hall" contest has been completed and we're moving on to the semi-finals. You'll find your choices for who moves on to the quarterfinals below, and for this round we'll do it in two segments. The first pairings will occur this week, and run through to next Friday when the next pairings will be available for voting.

This is a huge contest and I invite you to tell your friends, and invite them to vote!

In other news, I'm going back to Cleveland tomorrow for the day with my co-hosts over at the Two Minute Drill and we'll be making a trip to the Rock Hall since Mike's never been there before. Hey Rockers,

It's a cloudy Sunday afternoon here in BG and I just got done watching Sara Bareilles' "Live At The Fillmore" DVD; as I've said before, Sara has an amazing voice and her music captivates you in a way most artists fail to do these days.

The Road To The Rock Hall contest is going great, with some potential upsets and plenty of excitement too! Be sure to vote in all the match-ups below this blog before you leave to send your favorite artists to the next round.

On the show this week I'll be featuring some older Billy Joel, music from The Cult, Matt Pond PA, some old school Santana, plus all your favorite classic, modern and alternative rock songs. If I don't say it enough on-air, I'll say it again and mean it every time-I love bringing you music to listen to, it's a great feeling when I talk to you and you tell me 'I haven't heard that song in years' or 'Who is that? Radio Revolution is proud to present "Road To The Rock Hall." Throughout this semester, you will get to vote for your favorite rock bands to win the title of "The Greatest Rock & Roll Band Of All Time." The voting will be split up into four brackets; the Freed, Paul, Holly, and Presley regions, paying tribute to the originators of rock and roll. Once the first bracket's voting period has ended, the next bracket will begin, and so on. The winner will be honored at a special Radio Revolution broadcast live from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio. The U2 Marathon was amazing-we had listeners join the show from nine different countries yesterday including the band's homeland of Ireland! Thanks to all of you that tuned in and congrats to Julie, Mikos, Mark, and Adriane for winning WFAL t-shirts; we'll have those out to you as soon ASAP. The marathon concept has proven successful for Radio Revolution, so look out for at least one more this semester!

A Texas-Sized Radio Fight

Good evening everyone,

The U2 marathon is right on schedule and everything's in place; today I'd like to shift my focus today however to Lubbock, TX.

KTXT is the student radio station at Texas Tech University and was recently shut down in December of this past year. The university cited lack of funding was the main culprit as to why this almost half-century old radio station was being taken off the airwaves.

"For over 47 years, KTXT 88.1 FM has been Tech's radio station. Now, without warning, it's being shut down by Student Media, overnight. No discussion. No negotiation. Just lights out, good night, farewell and see-ya. Sorry we didn't tell you the patient was terminal. Goodbye to the records, the memories; those are meaningless, the past is meaningless, KTXT is meaningless." (Save KTXT's Facebook website)

I would suggest taking a look at the official "Save KTXT 88.1FM" website.

This is a cause worth fighting for and I urge you to learn more about what "Wombat" Porter, Jason Rhode and the rest of the gang down in Texas are doing to fight for KTXT.

I believe in the freedom of music, and this is station is an important tool in teaching students about radio and opening them up to new kinds of music. If you happen to be a member of KTXT, I want to say to you personally that Radio Revolution stands behind you and we'll do anything we can do to help you!

U2 Mini-Marathon Coming January 13th

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a great time taking part in whatever festivities there were around your area. U2 won the Radio Revolution Mini-Marathon Poll this week, so that means I'll be bringing you three hours of nothing but the best of U2. With over twenty albums in the RR collection, plan on hearing some of the band's finest music that you don't always hear on corporate radio.

Again, be sure to tune in January 13th from 8-11AM EST as we kick off another great season of Radio Revolution with the U2 Mini-Marathon.

Book Review-"The Buzzard" by John Gorman

Of course being a Clevelander, I had to promote this book. WMMS was THE station in the 70s and 80s for all the great classic rock bands. It quickly became the station that every other station tried to be like and it solidified Cleveland as The Rock & Roll Capital. John Gorman was the Music Director at the time that WMMS was just beginning to spread its wings and grow into The Buzzard. The usual cast of characters include Kid Leo, Len "Boom Boom" Goldberg and of course Murray Saul with his classic "Get Down" phrase. Even if you're not lucky enough to be from Cleveland, this is a great book for any radio fan especially if you happen to have an "I Break For Vinyl" sticker attached to your car.

My New Year's "Revolution" For 2009

Welcome to the final 2008 post of Radio Revolution's online blog!

This year has been a whirlwind adventure for me and I want to thank you all for being part of a historic part of Radio Revolution and WFAL Falcon Radio. The one moment that eclipses all else that's happened on the show was, of course, the Dave Matthews Band Marathon on Dec. 4th. Thanks to Pat Dougherty, Matt Leininger, Matt Melvin, all the DJs that stopped in to offer their support and of course Tim Reynolds! 2009 is going to be bigger, better, and more "Revolutionary" than 2008.

So, it's New Years Eve and in the long standing tradition of resolutions, I'm about 1-20 all time in that record...the one being having a radio show (kept that one!) So this year I decided to say no to a resolution, and yes to a Revolution-and this year, you can all take part! Here's how:

My New Year's Revolution is to support local my local bands and record stores.

We've all fallen into the trap of downloading illegally or even worse, buying from Wal-Mart. Let's forget downloading illegally for a second and focus on major companies...when you look at the numbers, new and upcoming artists are not being sold at stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart and the only large name company you can buy only a small portion of new music from is iTunes. Now I have nothing wrong with iTunes, it introduces me to new artists a lot but there's still artists out there that they do not have. Artists like Noah and the Whale, Sara Bareilles and others were not on iTunes let alone the major stores until they had commercial fame.

So where can you go to find artists that might be the new Van Morrison, AC/DC, or James Taylor? At your local mom & pop music store.

If you happen to live in Bowling Green or attend the school you more than likely know the name Finders Records. Finders has been my favorite store to find different artists when the mainstream artists don't cut it for me. Just walk in and you're greeted by walls and walls of albums (and even vinyl!) just waiting to be listened to. This is just one example, there are thousands of stores just like this all over America and the world.

What's another way to support the music? Go to a concert! Next time you're on Ticketmaster getting ready to purchase those Taylor Swift tickets, save your money and go see a local band for a change. Many local bands make most of their money from concert revenue these days and better yet, the atmosphere at a smaller venue is exciting and more intimate that your typical arena concert.

Now, in no way am I saying stop listening to your favorite rock and rollers; there's nothing wrong with listening to Rush, The Clash, etc. on your iPods but learn about new artists, and support the local scene. There was a time when your favorite band was a nobody, trying to get their big break...the next big band is out there waiting for that chance too.

7 Degrees (not of separation that's actually how cold it is here)

As the title of this blog entry says-it's damn cold here in Cleveland.

I came across a newer band this past week on Radio Caroline called The Fratellis. From Glasgow, Scotland, this band is reminiscent of bands like Reel Big Fish, Zwan, and even a hint of The Beatles thrown in there for good measure. My favorite hit off this album so far is Mistress Mabel; it has that old-school "rock around" sound that so few artists today can duplicate.

Check out The Fratellis on their official website: The Fratellis and don't forget to check out Radio Caroline either, listen to them if you're dying for the days where the DJs decided the music based on what was in their record collection.

Christmas Listening Companion

Merry Christmas all you rockers out there. For the most part, I'm packed up and ready to head back to Cleveland for Christmas break and as you know there will be no Thursday broadcast of Radio Revolution this week but we will be back in three weeks after we usher in 2009.

As I was packing I was listening to KALX, the student radio station out at the University of Berkeley and I heard some really great tracks which spawned me to create my Top Ten Albums To Listen To Over The Holidays...Enjoy!

A Christmas Listening Companion: Top Ten Albums To Listen To Over The Holidays

1. Zwan: Mary Star Of The Sea

This is really old school Billy Corgan during the Smashing Pumpkins short hiatus. It has a great sound to it, and a religious overtone in may of the songs. I remember first hearing "Lyric" and "Honestly" on WBWC back when I was a teenager and I still love hearing it.

2. Steve Miller Band: Young Hearts-Greatest Hits

Classic rock at its finest. SMB has been around forever but has happily avoided selling out, which earns big points with me as a listener. They're all here on this album, "Jungle Love", "Swingtown", and a few unexpected songs too.

3. Sara Bareilles: Little Voice

Quite possibly my new favorite artist, Sara Bareilles hails from California and harkens back to the days of Joni Mitchell and blends that with a little Norah Jones, but don't ask her to compare herself to a particular artist. She maintains that she wants to sound original and unlike any other artist; this album solidifies her claim. Favorite song from this album; "Many The Miles."

4. Big D & The Kids Table: Strictly Rude

If you get the urge to jump up and dance around on the Christmas dinner table during the holidays, this might be your best bet as background music. Big D put out a great album, which you can hear most of the tracks like "Souped Up Vinyl" and "Raw Revolution" on Radio Revolution. It's great to know that ska-punk isn't dead to bands like these guys.

5. Dave Matthews Band: Crash

I remember bringing this album on long car rides during vacation. Not much needs to be said about this album because it's worth exploring for yourself without any background information. Psst...best song on there? Tripping Billies.

6. Elvis Costello: This Year's Model

I've only recently become an EC fan, and I can only hope you will too after listening to "This Year's Model." "Living In Paradise" is a really good song to get the feel of what this album's about; it's no "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding?" but what is?

7. Goldfinger: Stomping Ground

"99 Red Balloons" is the best song off this album, and after you get off the table from dancing to Big D & The Kids Table, flip this one on to continue the rock out!

8. The Hold Steady: Stay Positive

"Sequestered In Memphis" is the diamond off "Stay Positive", the newest from The Hold Steady. It's a great car-ride album, and is the perfect follow up to "Chips Ahoy!" Make sure to pick this one up, you won't be sorry.

9. Hall & Oates: Greatest Hits

Nothing needs to be said for this H&O are amazing.

10. Pink Floyd: The Wall

Unless you're trippin' on acid you probably won't be able to fully grasp this one but still, Pink Floyd is one of the greatest classic rock bands of all time.

Hey there everyone! I hope you're all doing well, I'm battling a little bit of a cold here so I'm sitting here deciding what to do/not do today. While I was pondering my procrastination, I decided this would be a perfect opportunity to share with you some of my favorite shows on WFAL Falcon Radio. These are the Radio Revolution Top Five Favorite Shows of WFAL:

1. Breakfast at LP's

Hosted by Luda, every Monday morning at 8AM she brings you the best that indie has to offer. She's known to have great, under-the-radar guests that you may not have heard of, but by the end of the show you'll be buying their CDs. This show is a must for any music fan.

2. Two Minute Drill

Ahh yes the TMD, my good friends Baughman, Fisher, and Lamposone are the hosts of the sports gem. You may have heard about them online after they introduced a contest to find the best-looking female in all of NCAA sports. That's just a taste of what the show is all about, check out their blogspot for more!

3. The Mid-Day Fix

Big Matt & Little Mel put on a great show every Thursday right after Radio Revolution. They entertain your ears with great local music and awesome rock. Give a listen, you'll get hooked instantly.

4. Ang Live

I call Shenanigans on this show! Ang Live may be the best combo of sports and pure drivel ever-it's always a fun listen. You never know what you'll get with Angelo and Kyle, but it's always entertaining!

5. Falcon Flashback

This is a brand new show from 6-8AM on Thursdays hosted by Mike. It's one part Casey Kasem, one part Lanigan & Malone (for those of you who are Clevelanders). Every week Mike brings you a full year of rock and roll and talks about some of the events that occurred that year.

The Best Day Ever 12.04.08

Words can't even begin to explain what I'm feeling inside right now...but I'll try.

Yeah we broke some station records, yeah it was a big deal...but that wasn't even the best part. We got to talk to Tim freaking Reynolds, the coolest guitarist out there! We discussed our favorite albums, songs, concert venues and all that. The best part I think, was getting to talk to you guys-from Matais at DMB, to Dave and his little daughter Sophia, and even our boys down at Zeta Beta Tau in Florida-you all made this the best damn marathon ever! I know there's a lot of people to thank and I just want to say from me to you "Thank you so much for everything you did!"

This is a day that the three of us, myself, Pat, and Matt will remember the rest of our lives. We came in Thursday morning expecting to have fun, but you all went above and beyond the call of duty and made this an awesome marathon.

Pre-Turkey Day Update

The snowy land that is Cleveland, Ohio is my landscape as I write this blog post ha ha.

It's almost here! The DMB Marathon is right around the corner, next week! December 4th!

We've been burning the midnight oil preparing for the show, and I think you'll be pleased with what you hear. The songs will be kicking major butt, and so will our DJs-and to prepare for it, we're taking Thursday off so we can fill ourselves up with turkey and enjoy our families.

A balmy 37 degrees of wintery fury greeted me on the way to the studios today here in BG. It's getting to be that time of the semester where the days begins to blend together and the cold weather starts to take a toll on everyone...

The Dave Matthews Band Marathon is officially set for December 4th! Right after Thanksgiving, join us for a full day of nothing but the best of what's around from our enormous DMB catalog. Happy Sunday Afternoon everyone, it's a great day here in BG and Radio Revolution is trucking away nicely. The show is getting international attention, as well as here at home and I couldn't be happier!

Leading Off

I'm planning on having an all-show tribute to a particular band coming in November. The only problem is, I don't know who to pick! That's where you come in-for the next few weeks, I'll have a poll up for you to vote on and decide the official winner. At the end (unless there's a tie, in which there will be a coin-toss) I'll bring you three hours of the winning band's music along with history, trivia, etc. about that band. So don't delay, vote today!

I'm a card-carrying fan of "The Only Band That Matters", The Clash. So it was only a matter of days after it was released that I bought the brand new album "Live At Shea Stadium."

The lineup that night in 1982 included the main act, The Who which happened to be who The Clash would be opening for. Produced by Kosmo Vinyl himself, this was the punk concert to end all punk concerts. Featuring Joe Strummer, and the rest of the guys from The Clash, "Live At Shea Stadium" is a must have for any fan of the days of ripped jeans, punk rock, and musical individuality.

Album Review

Bruce Springsteen-Magic

This album came out in 2007 but it premiered on Radio Revolution this past season in May. The Boss and the rest of the E Street Band put out a magic album with the release of "Magic", which harkens back to the days of "Born To Run" especially thanks to the incredible stylings of Clarence Clemmons. With such songs like "Girls In Their Summer Clothes" and "Radio Nowhere", this album is a must-buy, and perfect for roll-down-the-window car driving weather...however if you live in Northeast Ohio you may have missed the boat on that by two weeks. Overall, The Boss redeemed himself after releasing the less than stellar "We Shall Overcome" album with this incredible gem that has earned its place on E Street.

Radio Revolution Update 10/05/08

It was Homecoming Weekend yesterday here at BGSU and there were events going on all over campus. One event of interest was the College Democrats bringing Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy, and Adrianne Palicki of Friday Night Lights fame to campus to speak about registering to vote for this year's election. I had the great opportunity to meet both Seth and Adrianne after their talk and they were even so kind to do a few liners for Radio Revolution! Be sure to be listening to the next broadcast for Seth as Peter and Stewie, and Adrianne as herself on the show! Thanks again to BGSU's College Democrats for helping set up my meeting with Seth and Adrianne.

Show Update! The site has been changing a little bit to keep you up to date with everything that's going on-we have a new MySpace and Flickr account which you can access here on the main page to your right. Also BGSU will be on Fall Break beginning Thursday so RR will only broadcast this week on Tuesday, however next week we'll be back in the regular swing of things.

Finally, I want to invite all the musicians out there to send me their music! What Can Browne Do For You?

There's been a noticeable increase in war-protest songs/albums by well known musicians ever since the war in Iraq began. Since the beginning of rock and roll, many artists have been known to write songs of protest (see Neil Young, Don Henley, John Lennon and so on.)

Just this past week, Jackson Browne released his newest album "Time The Conqueror" in which his lyrics are laced with such gems as:

"Where are the courts, now when we need them?

Why is impeachment not on the table?

We better stop them while we are able

Roll out the drums of war"

It just rolls off the tongue doesn't it? Apparently the days of "Stop children what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down" and "Keep on rockin' in the free world" are gone. Sorry Jackson, best save your happenin' skat for the Tuesday Night Beat Poets Society at Starbucks. I really feel that this album was a complete let down lyrically and melodically, and it pains me to say that because even without the politics, Jackson Browne is an amazing musician. His songs are always on my playlist and I'm always ready to play him on the show whenever the request comes in for "Running On Empty" but this album is not worth shelling out the money for.

I really feel that the time has passed for Iraq War protest songs...Green Day, and Springsteen started it and maybe caused it to lose its steam because of the continuous airtime that such songs as "American Idiot" got, and now that a few years have passed you have people like Jackson Browne trying to keep the protest banner waving unsuccessfully. I hope that Browne is able to learn from this experience, and comes back with a really great album the next time around.

What's going on RR fans, it's September 21st and it's time for the first big post of the semester.

This Tuesday on the show I'll be playing a few tracks off the new album "Forth" by The Verve. I bought this off of iTunes a couple weeks ago and haven't been able to stop listening to it since. It's great to see that The Verve was able to come back and make such a great album after a long "hiatus."

My favorite radio station back home in Cleveland, WBWC the radio station for Baldwin Wallace College is running a great show tonight and every Sunday night at midnight called "Joe Strummer's London Calling." For those of you who know me well know that I'm a huge fan of The Clash and especially Joe Strummer. Strummer embodied punk rock but he was also politically and culturally aware-more importantly he had an incredible sense of the world of music beyond the walls of punk rock. He listened to everything from reggae, classical, jazz, to funk, folk, and big band. Before his death in 2002, Joe became a DJ for the BBC and his show was appropriately named "London Calling." This show chronicles his LC episodes and allows us here in America to listen to Strummer talk about his favorite tracks and his eclectic taste in music. I highly recommend tuning into this broadcast, even if you don't like The Clash or Joe-it's worth it.

Warm Up The Mics...

It's been an incredible summer here in Cleveland, there's been so many great things to do and I'll be sure to give you all a "What I Did For Summer Vacation" report on the 26th but right now let's talk music.

What is the new season of Radio Revolution going to have?

To quote Jack Black, we're gonna "melt some faces". Our brand spanking new studio is fully-functional with new equipment, new logos, and so much more thanks to the station's great executive staff. I promise you'll all get to see it once I bring in my camera or we hook up the webcam for the first broadcast.

The show itself is going to be amazing and it's all thanks to your feedback on the polls and comments! I'll be featuring new and upcoming artists as well as familiar voices to the faithful RR listeners. We'll be giving away more prizes, tickets and more artist exclusives too!

Less Thank Jake @ HOB Cleveland-Show Review

With their new album "GNV FLA" out in stores, Less Than Jake hit the stage at House of Blues off Euclid Ave. in downtown Cleveland earlier this month.

Being a LTJ fan for the longest time, this was a real treat to finally see them live, along with Suburban Legends and Goldfinger as the openers.

LTJ brought out all the old school songs, peppered with new songs off their latest album including "Conviction Notice". The band played for over an hour and fifteen minutes. You'd never guess that the band has been together for 16 years, they played as if they had just been signed, and brought out to tour for the first time. After all these years Less Than Jake knows how to rock the house and debate in a great round of "Plastic Cup Politics."

Go out and buy their new album "GNV FLA", it's a great CD salute to their hometown of Gainesville, Florida and will make you dig through your closet looking for your old LTJ shirt, the brown baggy shorts, Converse shoes and your Pez dispenser.

This month has me going to a lot of great concerts and I'm glad to report that I'll be doing concert reviews for the show that I'll share here, and sporadically throughout the next semester on the show. This Tuesday I'll be seeing Less Than Jake and friends at the House Of Blues Cleveland. However the show I'm really excited about is Dave Matthews Band on the 30th at Blossom! It's gonna be my first DMB concert and I'm hoping it'll be as epic as people say it is. Stay tuned!

First off for new listeners, how do you pronounce Dari?
DAH-ree. It's an old nickname with an embarassing but awesome story. When i was about 10 or 11, i was still obsessed with pokemon, and my friends and i all made up our own pokemon trainers, and mine was darika. it got shortened to dari and became my name
and now it's just...stuck.

How long have you been playing music?

well, i've been playing for about five years, but really seriously only the past year or so.

What influenced you to begin singing/song-writing?

it's the only thing i can see myself doing in the future. i'm not good at anything else. it's the love of my life.

Are there any particular artists that influence your song-writing?

Actually, when i was younger it was all Michelle Branch, she's got a similar style to what i play. I don't really listen to her much anymore though. Right now i'm getting some real inspiration by The Weakerthans, The Barenaked Ladies, and of course The Beatles.

Your first live performance-where was it, and what was it like to play in public?

Well my first live performance in any sort of music setting was in elementary school and i wasn't really that nervous, but if you mean as a solo artist, it was on February 1st of this year at a local coffee shop called Shelby's. I had like three days notice, cause i was sharing the time with my friend Chris, of Von Thron (check them out by the way), and basically it was amazing. I felt so comfortable up there, even though i forgot the words to two of my songs, which was pretty hilarious. My friends were all there to support me, and those who there who weren't my friends were really polite and receptive, and they loved me, so i felt great.

Tell me why you decided to cover Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah".

Well, it actually has to do with a Stickam former-friend of mine, Marcus, who one of my other songs is written about, actually. I was just playing it one day and i was like, aww i'm gonna learn that for him! And then one day when I was recording at Chris's house I just decided to play it to warm up And it turned out great, so I just put it up!

Your song "The Only One", give us a little background about how/why you went about writing it.

Oh goodness, well, to be honest it's about a guy. duh. Basically, i was totally into him. and still am. He and i get pissed off at each other about every other day, but somehow we get over it and come back together all the time. It's a really deep love song, but i can't say i'm in love with the guy... yet. haha.

Do you ever listen to your own music?

To be honest, i'm listening to "My Only One" right now, since you asked that question about it. And of course I listen to it on occasion to see what I could improve or what I HAVE improved, but I don't really have it on my iTunes playlist or anything, haha.

You're original in that you record your own music in your room with just a microphone, any plans to go into the recording studio and cut an album?

Absolutely. it's happening at the end of this month. It's just that i'm a student (in other words, totally broke), so i can't really afford going into a studio. Luckily, I've got some friends who work at one, and they're going to let me use some time...connections, man.

So what does the near-future hold for Dari Marie?

Well, honestly, college. I'll be moving to a new town and i don't know any venues down there yet. but Tallahassee locals, look out, I'm a-comin. As for dreams, i'd honestly like to try singing with a band. So hopefully while i'm up there i can do that.

Any chance you'll be touring with or without a band?

Absolutely, i really would love to travel and if i can make a little money doing something i love, i'd be more than content.

Any words of wisdom you want to impart to the Radio Revolution audience?

Let me just say that a year and a half ago i was the shyest kid in the world. Don't let your inhibitions get in the way of your dreams. There's nothing to be afraid of!

Summer Concert Info!

Greetings and Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I'd like to first off salute our troops all over the world that are fighting for our freedom, and those who have sacrificed themselves for this great nation-you helped make this country the shining beacon of freedom that it is...thank you.

Secondly, we have concert info! If you haven't heard yet, the Alive 2008 concert is coming up soon! This is one of the biggest Christian music festivals out there and it's going into its 21st year. I'll be going to it with my church's youth group as the acting summer Youth Director so I hope to see you all out there!

STATION NEWS!

Finally I'm happy to announce that the redesigning of our West Hall studio has begun. We hope to have everything moved in, painted, etc. by the beginning of the Fall semester on August 25th so stay tuned, hopefully I can get a hold of some pictures of our workers' progress. Next, we will no longer be using www.wfalradio.com the new website will be www.falconradio.net which has not been posted just yet, but make sure to bookmark us once it goes up! Lastly, what's a radio station without an awesome logo?? I don't want to reveal it yet, but believe me this thing rocks and it's gonna be painted on the back wall of our studio this semester-be on the lookout for our new look falcon!

Summer Happenings!

It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon here in Cleveland, I'm so glad to be back home and enjoying the city. I got out to my first Indians game of the year with Fish last night and biked the parkway this afternoon.

I thought I'd update you what's been going on since the last show of the semester a few weeks back:

Coming to the end of the Semester!

Thanks to God, for everything He's done for me. Iceman for helping me learn everything in the WFAL studios and being Mr. Dependable this whole semester. To my family for listening and always being there on and off the air. To Ben for being my first loyal listener. Sara Bareilles took the show with 77% of your votes for your favorite new artist on the show, with that said I will be trying to get some of her older, more less known songs on the show next semester for your listening pleasure. I am also in talks with her manager to possibly get an interview with her when she comes to Blossom Music Center back home in Cleveland, so hopefully we'll have some cool stuff in store from Ms. Bareilles come August!

THINGS SOON TO COME TO RADIO REVOLUTION

When I look at the possibilities for next year, I get really excited and want to run down Mercer Rd. in "Chariots Of Fire" style. Not only will WFAL be receiving a major facelift, but I plan to improve Radio Revolution as well. The show has only been on for over two months, and I've really appreciated all the feedback I've gotten during this time to decide what will make the show more successful in the Fall 2008 semester. All summer long you can rest assured that I will be hunting down new artists to play on the show, as well as finding classics too. I am also pleased to announce that I am talking to some record companies as far as sending us albums, free stuff that we can give away to you, the listener, during the show. Also WFAL will have an online store next year on the brand new website (launch time TBA) and I hope to have some really cool Radio Revolution t-shirt designs added to the store front, so keep an eye out for that.

Well I better get back to studying for finals week here, I can't believe school's finally almost over for the year! Keep on rocking out everyone, and stay tuned to Radio Revolution, and the show site for all the latest during the summer! This won't be the last post until August by ANY stretch of the imagination, I'll still be here!

Well we made it through our rogue broadcast on Stickam.com yesterday with an amazing amount of listener support! It was great to have all of you IMing the show, sending in requests-it's always appreciated when you become part of the show. Overall, I'm aware that the audio feed on the web cam was less than stellar, but that didn't stop us from playing great music for three straight hours.

On a side note, if you watched the tail end of the broadcast you'll notice I had a surprise guest in studio:

So i was wrapping up "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner and I noticed there was one of our BGSU tour guides standing outside, and he had a couple guests with him. The one guy, Gary, was touring our campus and wanted to see our studios because he's been involved in radio in Chicago for a number of years, so he's really into radio studios. I had a great time meeting him, he loved that we had been playing "Layla" by Eric Clapton, a true classic.

Tomorrow's the day when all the alumni are gonna come into the studio to check out everything we're up to, reminisce, and maybe we'll even get the old reel-to-reel player working! It's gonna be an amazing day and we'll have all the pictures up on the site as soon as we can, plus I may be able to play some of the interviews we'll be doing tomorrow on the show for Thursday.

We've Launched The Radio Revolution Website!

Hey Everyone!

Well the show finally has a website to keep you up-to-date on all the music, happenings, and everything in between that happens on Radio Revolution! I made this page so I can keep you all updated especially because the semester is coming to a close in a few weeks here at BGSU.

Secondly I wanted to thank you for all your support as listeners to the show. Radio Revolution has only been on for about five weeks and I've received an amazingly positive response to the show-I never expected so much great feedback for the show!

Stay tuned for new features to the site-and listen in this Thursday for our big Alumni Appreciation show!
